FAQs

  • The first step to joining our dog daycare is booking an assessment using the bright green button at the top of this page! Fill out our Assessment Form, choose a date and come meet us in person at your selected time. All dogs are assessed to determine if they meet the requirements of our daycare program. This will ensure that all our dogs are safe at every visit.

  • Once the in-person assessment is complete, you will be directed to our Client Portal where you create an account. This will give you access to our easy at-home Scheduling Calendar, events page, and more!

  • Yes! KYON offers overnight boarding every day of the week. All care is cage-free (unless you would like your dog in their crate) and is always supervised. A night of boarding covers a 24 hour period starting at one of our fixed pick-up/drop-off time slots (morning 7-9am, noon 12-1pm or 5-6:30pm).

This means your dog will also get a full day of fun and exercise with the other dogs.

It is preferred that an overnight stay is booked 48 hours in advance.

  • All dogs are taken on proper walks around the neighbourhood, no matter the type of care!
    (approx. 15-20 minutes long)

    Half-days = 1 walk
    Full-days = 2 walks
    Boarding = 4 to 5 walks a day

    … minimum!

See A Day at KYON for more.

  • Full-day care: Morning drop-off is between 7-9am and evening pick-up is between 5-6:30pm.

Half-day care: Half-day means your dog attends daycare for an entire morning or afternoon. Morning drop-off is between 7-9am and pick-up is between 12-1pm. Afternoon drop-off is between 12-1pm and pick-up is between 5-6:30pm.

Boarding: Drop-off during one of our fixed pick-up/drop-off time slots (morning 7-9am, noon 12-1pm or evening 5-6:30pm) and pick-up by the same time the next day.

See A Day at KYON and our Pricing Page for more.

  • Unfortunately, due to our strict walking schedule (we offer 2 full-walks a day), our drop-off/pick-up times are fixed. We can accommodate different pick-up/extension requests on a case-by-case basis when contacted in advance via email. We have an After-Hours Rate of $8/hour (+tax) which is billed in 1-hour intervals.

There is also more flexibility when boarding on weekends.

  • We do not take dogs under 16 weeks of age. They also require all of their vaccines prior to joining daycare.

  • Any dog above 8 months of age needs to be spayed/neutered. Once they are, you can book an assessment. Email us if you have any questions.

  • Yes. Every dog must have their: DHPP, rabies, and Bordetella vaccines, and must be up to date on their annual flea and heartworm.

  • Our Scheduling Calendar only allows cancellations up to 2 hours prior to your scheduled appointment . When care is cancelled prior to this, we typically refund the entire amount. A great solution is to Reschedule the care rather than cancel it!

Refunds are not granted for last minute calculations (in our Terms & Conditions) since the spot was unavailable to other dogs and stops others from attending daycare.

  • Please call us as soon as you know you will be late.

We have an After-Hours Rate of $8/hour (+tax) which is billed in 1-hour intervals.
    Pick-up between 6:30-7:30 is $8 (+tax), between 7:30-8:30pm is $16+tax. No pick-ups after 8:30pm, this would turn into a night of Boarding.

This is paid using card/POS in-person at the daycare.

  • Our space is swept and mopped on a daily basis. Once a week the entire space is cleaned from top to bottom (walls, floors, equipment etc.) Always with pet-safe and eco-friendly products.

  • Most dogs eat in the morning and evening so they typically do not get fed at daycare. They are occasionally given treats if marked as "allowed" on the Assessment Form. If your dog requires feeding during the day, you would provide the food, and we will happily feed them (supervised and separated from the other dogs) in our back room/office at the instructed time!

  • If a dog gets sick you are contacted immediately through phone and/or email, and the dog is removed from the common area/from the other dogs (depending on the sickness).
If possible, we ask that the dog is picked up by the owner, friend or relative, and the remaining care is refunded in full. In most cases, the dog stays for the remainder of its scheduled stay and is simply kept separate (always still supervised) until it's time to go home! In extreme cases, we bring the dog to the veterinarian or emergency clinic with permission from the owner.

  • All important instructions and custom notes are marked on your Client Profile which a KYON owner reviews every time your dog attends daycare. This information is transmitted every morning to a white board in the daycare and emphasized verbally to our staff. This ensures they are aware of which dogs need extra attention and how they must be accommodated/treated. Additionally, an owner of KYON is present at the daycare on a daily basis to reinforce these instructions.

  • The dogs are always supervised. There is at least one staff member (usually 2) with the dogs at all times, and they are never left alone. This also applies to overnight care.

  • On a quiet day we typically have between 10-15 dogs at once, and on a busy day it can be up to 25-30.

  • With the help of our online Scheduling Calendar (which you gain access to following your assessment), you can schedule, reschedule, and cancel care at your own convenience up to 4 hours before it begins.

  • Our main daycare space is roughly 680ft² and we have an additional “nap room” that’s around 65ft².
You will see all spaces during the assessment!
